Everything you need to know about PMP Certification in 2021

What is PMP?

A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a well-recognized credential that validates a project manager's experience based on his core competencies and skill set.

The Project Management Institute (PMI) in the United States has accredited this certification.

Why choose PMP?

PMP certified managers are in high demand because they have a standardised set of demonstrated capability in dealing with complex procedures and managing people from various backgrounds.

These experts are capable of turning an organization's vision into an attainable goal.

By strategically balancing the project execution process, they would become experts at achieving clear set targets with optimised resources.

PMP Exam pattern

To sit for the PMP exam, you must have a bachelor's degree, a master's degree in project management, and years of project management experience. All of this earns you a spot on an exam that is unquestionably difficult to pass. The exam questions are a combination of logical, theoretical, and reasoning sections that take hours to prepare for.

A multiple-choice question (MCQ) format is used for the PMP exam. A student will be given 200 questions to answer, with the expectation that they will answer 175. The remaining 25 questions are for the pre-test. The exam will take 4 hours to complete.

PMP Certification cost

The cost of certification varies depending on a number of factors, including the country of residence and the institution that provides the course. In addition, the cost varies depending on whether you choose classroom training, PMP Bootcamp online, or self-paced learning. The price difference between registered PMI members and non-PMI members is also significant.

PMP Methodology

• PMP professionals should follow the PMBOK framework (Project Management Body of Knowledge)

• The PMBOK provides predefined solutions to complex problems, identifies best practises, and helps us understand technical jargon.

• PMBOK walks them through the standard procedures that have proven to be successful in the past.

• It would be ideal for someone who wishes to follow a waterfall methodology by enforcing their knowledge in leveraging a framework, as a PMP certified manager will be able to easily adopt the methods prescribed in the framework to glide through the project workflow.
